An overview

Venice is the largest old town in the world. There are no cars, except the island of Lido, and the Sant'Erasmo Pellestrina.     

You can visit all the town  walking or using public transportation or water taxi.     

We suggest to buy  the Venice Card, which allows you to use public transportation and visit churches and museums at  really special prices.     

A great way to discover unusual itineraries  is if you get  lost in the city.
Do not be afraid to ask for directions when you have the impression of being truly lost. A Venetian are always ready to help you.

Another way to discover City, is by using the waterbuses: we suggest you to use  lines 41 and 42 which  will take you all around the city. This lines starts at Piazzale Roma and connect the center of the town with  Lido ( island with the beach) and  Murano ( famous because of glass factory)islands.
    
For a romantic vision of the city, a ride in a gondola is a unique experience.     

For those who love adventure, we recommend "the gondola traghetto", which will take you from the one part of the Big Channal to another  at a low cost.
     
Shortcuts by water, are used mainly by the Venetians to move from one part of the city to another .
